VF Jeanswear (VFJ), previously WRANGLER , is the largest division
(and possibly the most successful division) of VF Corporation  -the
world's largest apparel company (VFC at NYSE), a $7 billion-plus
    apparel powerhouse (www.vfc.com).

Jeanswear directed the operations of Blue Bell de Honduras (S de RL),
which was founded in 1986 in Puerto Cortes, Honduras. Blue Bell de
Honduras was the first VFJ overseas plant.

    (1) Few persons, if any, wished well or had good expectations about
Blue Bell de Honduras' future performance: US unions and workers
opposed the loss of jobs in the US, while in Honduras the maquila
plants were denigrated as mere exploiters of local cheap labor.
However, against all odds, Blue Bell de Honduras became the best
Jeanswear plant ever, and was regarded as THE BEST JEANS
PLANT IN THE WORLD, in a sizable proportion due to Luis Molina's
          leadership.

This is the only one case where Honduras has been considered
number one globally (that we know of -besides having been the
largest banana exporting country -by the second half of the 20 Century,
and being regarded as having the best mahogany wood in the planet).

Although, during the first years, Blue Bell de Honduras did not receive
full support from US operations, Blue Bell de Honduras' development
proved that, under appropriate local leadership: convinced and
persistent, creative and careful, honest and supportive, fair and
balanced, Honduran workers, technicians, engineers and
managers can make imported-technologies better and reach and
maintain results equally or better than any other groups of persons
         anywhere in the planet!!:

    (2) Wrangler reached its best production quality EVER in 1995, one of
the years in which Blue Bell de Honduras won the President's Quality
Award: Blue Bell de Honduras led the pack (pulling all other Wrangler
plants to excel in their historical quality). Blue Bell de Honduras' utmost
quality push was MAINLY due to Luis Molina's leadership and hands-on
management (as needed), based on his personal decision that the
Honduran plants would be number one in all regards:

*1....When we say ‘problems' we are not only referring to perplexing or difficult matters due to error: We
regard 'solutions for management problems' as a normal duty, task or endeavor in management; which
normally managers perform through other people.

A VIEW FROM OUTSIDE must be provided for achievement of optimal performance by
individuals and groups. This, for example, is how the President of the United States does
his job –through receiving constant advising and assistance. OS is prepared to be your

    Luis Molina
Best Wrangler quality ever, while Honduras was second to none worlwide
Excellent plants in Mexico, Costa Rica, the US and Honduras, with their quality compared to the Honduras plant's -the one regarded as second to none worlwide
Note the extremely low level of critical defects (0.8%) while, amazingly, ranking at top productivity.
Besides quality, Honduras maintained top performance in employee contentment, cost, delivery and many other factors
Proof of
Honduras plant
regarded as
number one
worldwide
The last paragrahp shows much higher than expected results, due in large part to LF Molina's personal decision of making his plants second to none
Wrangler's best quality ever -while Honduras was number one worldwide
These and all other evaluation factors developed to virtually perfect rankings for the Puerto Cortes, Honduras plants
These results more-than-satisfactorily impress Will Phelps, a superb headquarters manager and leader, but even better than these results were achieved in the Puerto Cortes, Honduras plant
Against all US headquarters' expectations, much better results than these were obtained in the Puerto Cortes, Honduras, plants
Good work relationships were necessary -Take a look at the relaxed smile of the City Mayor, Dr. Marlon Lara.
Employee contentment and team-work effectiveness (steamed by respect for the individual and leadership) were the key to unsurpassed world-class performance
Teamwork at all levels was important
While the COHEP just asked the Government to provide energy, LF Molina's plan made 18 companies able to work full 44-hrs weeks -This optimal solution was promptly recommended by FEDECAMARAS
Teamwork at all levels was necessary
